This custom Coffee Bar was made for a returning client. I’ve made some furniture pieces and home decor pieces for her and this time she needed a custom coffee bar. She had limited space so we built something that would fit all her needs.

Here’s the bar in the making. It’s made out of maple, birch and poplar. The coffee bar was 25″D x 36.5″H x 22″W and we needed to fit her coffee cups, mugs, water bottles and k-cups. The style was based off different coffee bar pictures we found. We’ve done several other farmhouse pieces and we continued that with this piece.

What we did differently with this piece is we added a shiplap look. I added the shiplap look with my router using the track from my track saw to make sure I was making straight lines. I wish I took pictures, but it’s similar to the Sunburst Barn Door we did. One bad move and I’d have to make a new panel. I did this before I built the piece.

One of my favorite parts about this build was the feet. I’ve never done feet like this, so it was a cute touch to the build. Adding the poplar to frame the shiplap and the face frame. I used the empty coffee cups I had sitting in my shop and my water bottle to see how they fit. The bottom of the cabinet had adjustable shelves, so for cups and mugs it’ll be nice to adjust to the size you need.

I sanded, taped, primed and painted the base. Taping is my least favorite thing to do. I try to avoid it at all costs.

I built the top, out of Poplar Hardwood and installed the soft close hardware. It was a tight squeeze in there, but we got them in there. Next were the drawers to store all that coffee and more.

Time to finish it up and add the drawer faces, door and knobs. This was such a cute build. I know I said farmhouse but I also feel it has a cottage look. This build is a good example of custom. It had all that she needed for the space that she had.
